11 Juli 2016 | Myanmar, Rangoon

After saying goodbye to thailand last wednesday, I was all set to leave thursday. I decided to go to Yangon, Myanmar said goodbye to everyone in Thailand and set off on a new adventure.
Unfortunately the adventure was short-lived, I did not get through customs because aparently I was in need of a Visa! ( even though google stated there was a 'visa on arrival').
Aparently the visa on arrival only works for business trips and not tourism... After spending an ungosly amount of money and running around Chiang mai for the entire day, I was able to get a ' rush order' in, for a visa into Myanmar, and. The next day i wass able to take off again.
Unfortunately my Thai visa had expired the previous day and the customs officer had no idea of what I was talking about when I told him the story. Meaning it took a long time to get through( I did eventually however).
After a one hour flight in a propellor plane( which was an adventure aswel) I arrived in Myanmar!
I booked a hotel via Hotwire( a kind of 'blind date' site for hotels)
And got placed in Chinatown! I would never have picked it out myself but it proved to be a very nice hotel. And obviously, in the middle of Chinatown!

I havent been going out a lot, because the weather is horrible(damn that rain season) and aparently there is a curfew! (11pm) and I did not want to take any risks. ( no idea why the curfew is there, I did not understand the expanation)

A few things i have noticed so far:

- the women here are absolutely gourgeous! Like dropdead beautiful! Its the asian version of scandinavia basically, 95% of the women here could be models.

- foreigners are like moviestars! Everyone stares, smiles and waves and I am aparently very funny.

- the city looks really bad, which im guessing is due to the humidity, almost every building is coveverd with moss and mold and stuff, ( the inside of my hotel is pristine though)

- the 3 main things their country revolves around are:
Gems( jade, diamonds, rubies, topaz, some as big as a pingpong ball)
cloth ( in all the colours you can imagine)
food. Everywhere! But I was told not to eat off the streets here, AT ALL due to hygiene issues
Ive walked aroud for a good 2 hours, finding only these 3 things.
And being stared at by everyone.
